26 Aug A Special Message From Pastor Eric Smith
Dear Vaughn Forest Family,
This morning during our worship gatherings I announced my resignation as Lead Pastor of Vaughn Forest Church. God has opened an opportunity for me to be a missionary with our partner ministry For All Mankind Movement helping them continue to expand their mission work in Southeast Asia and the MiddleEast as well as beginning the work to develop a North American Church Planting movement that I will have the privilege to lead. After much prayer, consideration, and counsel I will be accepting the position. Krystal, Weathers, and I will be moving to Louisiana during October and my last Sunday as Lead Pastor of Vaughn Forest Church will be October 28th, roughly two months from now. Please pray for us as we take this new step of faith to make Jesus famous among the Nations.
We certainly did not expect God to move us this soon, but these almost three years have been amazing and I am blown away at all the incredible things we have seen the Lord do over our time serving along side you. I will never forget all the amazing lifelong friendships, lives changed by Jesus, and the Kingdom impact we have been able to be part of here at VFC.
We are deeply saddened to leave our Church Family at Vaughn Forest but at the same time excited to follow God’s call into this next adventure. I know that God still has His best in store for VFC. The Church is not built around anyone but Jesus and we know that He is going nowhere! VFC will continue to be a church that Builds Lives to Honor God.
Our Church Bylaws are very clear about what the next steps for Vaughn Forest will be:
- The Governance Board will step into the “Lead Pastor” position and the staff will continue to lead the day to day operations of our church. We have incredible folks in all of these positions and I know that VFC will not skip a beat during this time.
- A Pastor Search Team will be formed within 60 days and begin the work of finding the man that God has to lead Vaughn Forest during it’s next season.
- Vaughn Forest will continue to do the work of ministry and reach those around us with the gospel of Jesus.
In closing, please know that I love each of you and I will always have a special place in my heart for the people of Vaughn Forest Church. Answering God’s calling can be hard at times, and this is one of those times for me. However, we know that God is faithful and His way is always better than our own.
I know you may have questions, and that is totally natural. Please feel free to contact a member of the Governance Board with any questions or concerns you may have. If you have any questions for me I will be around and available over these next two months to share with you as well.
