Cars, Bacon and a Recliner!

Wow! What an incredible week we have had in the Forest over the last seven days! There has been so much going on and I want to celebrate it all with you.

In case you missed it, last week was Vacation Bible School at Vaughn Forest Church and we had over 500 kids and over 100 adult and student workers up here each day learning about Jesus and how much He loves us all. I am so grateful that so many of you took the time to invest in these children. I also want to say a special word of thanks to Beth and David Henderson, our Preschool and Children’s Ministers, for all the work they put into making VBS happen. If you are curious about the week, head over to our Facebook page and check out the VBS recap video there.

Also, this past Sunday morning, we had our first meeting with Live The Promise, an organization that we are partnering with that helps support foster care families. It’s absolutely God’s timing that in our service this past Sunday we talked about God’s view of “true religion”, which is to take care of widows and orphans (James 1:27). And while not every family can be a foster care family, most of us can help support those who are taking care of orphans as well as children on their way to adoption. Be on the lookout for more information on how you can get involved with this ministry in the coming weeks.

Another note, for all of our students and student ministry families, make sure to come out this Wednesday night at 6:00 PM and join us in the Warehouse as we welcome Kenny Miller and his wife Emily to the Vaughn Forest Family. We will have music, I will be bringing a brief message, and there will be an opportunity for all of you to get to know Kenny and Emily better. I hope to see you there!

Finally, this Sunday is Father’s Day! I am so excited to celebrate all our dads and we have some really fun stuff planned. Beginning around 8:45 AM out front, we will have some cool cars and bacon prepared several different ways for all the dudes. Then, during the service at 10:30 AM, we will be giving away to a recliner to one of our lucky dads! (Must be present to win.) So come out and join us for Father’s Day in the Forest this Sunday!

God is at work! Thank you for being willing to answer His call on all of as a church body. As always, it is a joy to be your pastor.

Live Sent!
